Paint Sprayer

Hours: 6:00 am to 2:20 pm with ½ hour for lunch at noon each day (currently working an overtime schedule of 6 am to 4:20 pm M-F)

Status: Hourly/Full-time/Benefits. Eligible for overtime pay at time and a half.

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Summary: Industrial painter using overhead painting system, airless spray equipment and paint rooms. Protective gear is provided by the company.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
  • Paints tools, equipment, and products for use in industrial abrasive blasting.
  • Uses air spray equipment, overhead hanging systems for bigger and heavier parts, and works in a downdraft paint booth.
  • Prepares products used for abrasive blasting and related processes for customer use
  • Reads gages, works with tools and measuring devices.
  • Uses drawings, diagrams, schematics, work instructions and other work directions to guide daily assignments.
  • Selects products and paint thinners for each product according to above instruction as well as verbal instruction from Lead or Supervisor.
  • Uses paint thinner and other paint related products to ensure paint is smooth and free of blemish or defect.
  • Uses math to read and set gauges, measure and mix paint products.
  • Watches for quality and workmanship defects that could adversely impact customer experience.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment in efficient working order, organizes tools and prepares for the following day’s work at the end of each shift.
  • Washes and caulks parts to prepare them for painting.
  • Prepares tools that help prepare surfaces for commercial grade finishes. Proper techniques for safety and cleaning are observed.
  • Uses powered and non-powered hand tools; may use a forklift or other assistive equipment to move parts.
  • Checks units for quality, workmanship and leaks and makes repairs or adjustments as needed.
  • Works in other areas as customer demand and business needs required. May work in other areas from time to time as assigned.
  • Continuous mental or visual attention required to maintain tolerances during assembly. Failure to maintain tolerances can result in lethal product failures.
  • May attend seminars or other training to keep skills up to date.
  • Seeks out and implements continuous quality improvements.
  • Actively participates in LEAN activities such as PDCA, A-3, and Root Cause Analysis activities.
  • Demonstrates flexibility when asked to take on new tasks.
SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of industrial paint using air and airless spray equipment.
  • Familiarity with paint viscosities and use of paint thinner to achieve the proper viscosity.
  • Knowledgeable about temperature and humidity effects on flash or dry time; able to compensate by selecting and using proper thinners.
  • Track record of demonstrating proper painting techniques to produce desired affects.
  • Ability to use basic powered and non-powered tools.
  • With initial training, must be able to read and interpret schematics, engineering assembly drawings and bills of material.
  • Must be able to use power and non-power tools.
  • Must be able to match parts numbers from drawings and job orders to parts bins and Kan Ban labels.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential to the role.
JOB CONDITIONS

Requires moderate to heavy exertion (lifting a range of 5-40 pounds) on a regular basis to handle parts, tools and equipment. Work position is continuously standing. Work is indoors, in a non-climate-controlled warehouse. Tractor trailer delivery doors are open from time to time, but minimal exposure to weather. Must follow established safety rules to prevent injury to yourself and others. Lifting could be up to 40 pounds; help and appropriate protective equipment is available.
