Job summary

Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America is seeking a Paint Process Engineer responsible for setting production targets in the paint plant and guiding activities to meet them. The role focuses on analyzing production and quality data to improve productivity and car paint quality, overseeing operations and implementing improvements across facilities and automation systems.

The candidate should bring a mechanical/chemical/materials engineering background with 2+ years in automotive paint processes,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or materials engineering
  • 2+ years of job-related experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products or equivalent applications
  • Deep understanding of external markets and current trends
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in data analysis and developing proposals
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Able to communicate with H/KMC employees on business
  • Experience in automotive industry (paint plant)
  • Experience managing projects related to paint facilities, conveyors, robots
  • Korean language skills preferred
  • Willingness to travel domestically/internationally

Responsibilities

  • Set targets in the paint plant and oversee activities to achieve them
  • Analyze production and quality data to improve productivity and paint quality
  • Oversee operation performance and implement improvements
  • Review investment items to improve the paint plant and calculate cost/benefit
  • Coordinate and supervise operators; provide feedback and training
  • Report progress to superiors and coordinate with related lines
  • Follow company policies and manage construction schedules for paint plant
  • Prepare input for new models (facilities, tools) and manage new model projects
  • Install new facilities and run trials for new technology
  • Manage replacement of old facilities (conveyors, robots, automation)
  • Analyze data during new car production and implement quality countermeasures
  • Report major issues in the paint plant with required materials
  • Review specifications for production of new vehicles and ensure compliant execution
  • Promote process changes and tool rectifications to optimize manufacturing
  • Develop cost-reduction strategies (labor, materials, energy)
  • Explore new control levels and methods
  • Develop recruitment and training plans for paint plant staff
  • Improve plant environment and safety; address safety regulations
  • Foster communication across manufacturing units and strengthen organizational power
  • Provide guidance to technicians at lower levels

    (Targets: Number of units produced, Quality index & HPV, etc.) * HPV: Hour Per Vehicle
  • Analyze production and quality data, improve the productivity and car paint quality.
  • Analyze production rate of operation and make activities for operation improvement.
  • Review items for supplementary investment to improve the paint plant or process and the cost and run.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of operators; provide them with feedback on performance. (Include training and managing Team members)
  • Report the progress of major tasks to a superior or expatriate coordinator.
  • Report to the immediate superior (or expatriate coordinator) and/or other related production lines if any product or process nonconformity is detected.
  • Follow the policies or procedures of HMGMA.
  • Manage the construction progress schedule of the paint plant.
  • Preparing for the input of new models in paint plant. (Facility modification, tool preparation etc.)
  • Oversee inspect and manage new model project progress.
  • Performs events for new vehicle development and Prepare production operations.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
  • Bachelor's degree (mechanical, chemical, material Engineering majors)
  • 2+ years of job-related experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products or equivalent applications.
  • Deep understanding of external markets and current trends

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require company-approved sponsorship for this position now or in the future.

  • Preference given to those who are fluent in Korean.

Physical Demands

While in Office: This position is primarily sedentary and requires working at a desk and computer for extended periods. Responsibilities may include:
