Job summary

Flex-N-Gate LLC in Urbana, IL is seeking a Paint Engineer to develop and implement tools and processes to improve paint system performance, uptime, quality and cost. You will provide technical support for paint operations and coordinate with suppliers, maintenance and production teams.

The role requires familiarity with automation/robotics, PFMEA, control plans, and environmental and quality management systems. Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in engineering or technical field; automotive experience optional.
• Familiar with automation/robotics for paint systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• High analytical ability and problem solving.
• Team work with leadership potential.
• Proficient in Windows, Excel and databases.
• Robot path programming knowledge.
• Statistical methods (Six Sigma/Shainin); AutoCAD and MS Access.
• Knowledge of paint-related technologies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize paint processes for quality and throughput.
• Analyze data to identify root causes and implement actions.
• Supervise robot technicians and paint mixers.
• Support new processes and equipment implementation.
• Communicate across shifts and departments to share best practices.
• Maintain process documentation and EMS/QMS awareness.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and energy usage.
