Job summary

Flex-N-Gate in Michigan seeks a Paint Technician to maintain opened paint inventory, support efficiency improvements, and ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO14001. The role works closely with the Paint Manager to drive quality and productivity in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

Requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent, ability to operate paint equipment, and strong teamwork to meet production targets and customer quality requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of paint processes and equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to operate paint tools and monitor quality metrics is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain opened paint inventory in the Paint department.
  • Support improvements to increase efficiency and first-time yield.
  • Collaborate with Paint Manager on process and engineering changes.
  • Document all activities and ensure compliance with guidelines and standards.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability
  • Maintain opened paint inventory in the Paint department.
  • Maintain procedures and equipment to improve efficiency and first time yield capability.
  • Drive continuous improvement actions.
  • Work with Paint Supervisor and Process Engineer on process and engineering changes.
  • Participate in Corrective Action Plan development, implementation and follow-up as quality problems occur.
  • Evaluate and improve techniques to reduce downtime and improve the life of equipment.
  • Document all activities as required.
  • Provide support and maintain compliance with all company guidelines, union contracts, IATF 16949, ISO14001, and all applicable government regulations and standards.
  • Any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by management.
Basic Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Knowledge Of
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Customer needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture.
  • Paint processes and tooling, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Paint viscosity in relationship to paint reduction with different types of reducing solvents.
  • Design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production.
Skills
  • Use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment
  • Organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Support management in implementing short and long term goals.
  • Obtain the skills to track production OEE through measuring first time quality, utilization, and efficiency.
  • Operate the kinds of tools and equipment needed to do a job, including hilo.
Ability To
  • Maintain processes, systems, and procedures with in the paint kitchen.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in written.
  • Maintain systems necessary to collect, to maintain, and analyze data.
  • Identify problems, and help implement solutions.
  • Maintain processes that meet production targets and customer quality requirements.
  • Work in a team environment.

Health, Safety And Physical Demand Requirements
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Upper body mobility is required along with the physical requirements of lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling.
  • Must be able to stand 90% of the time with frequent walking.
  • Lift using one or two hands up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of forceful abilities from 1 to 30 pounds during the duration of the shift.
