Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to lift 20–100 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Read and follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math and simple computations.
  • Basic computer proficiency for timekeeping and records.
  • Forklift and overhead crane certification required or obtained during training.
  • Respiratory protection training may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment and surfaces for paint/coating.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces including masking and taping.
  • Move parts onto racks for cleaning or painting.
  • Operate pressure-washing equipment.
  • Operate forklift and overhead crane as needed.
  • Wear respiratory protection when required.
  • Assist with touch-up paint and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Support Final Assembly when required.

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 6:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Reports To: Final Assembly Supervisor / Paint Supervisor

Our work supports customers in mission-critical infrastructure, OEM manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and other industrial markets. IE provides engineering, manufacturing, automation, system integration, and testing services for sophisticated power distribution equipment and packaged electrical systems.

We are currently seeking a reliable, motivated individual to join our Price, Utah facility as a Paint Operations Assistant on Day Shift.

This position plays an important role in supporting our paint and production operations. The employee will assist with surface preparation, equipment cleaning, material handling, workplace organization, and other production responsibilities as assigned.

For employees who are interested in growing their skills and demonstrate the necessary aptitude, this position may also provide a path toward training and development as an Industrial Painter.

Primary Responsibilities

The Paint Operations Assistant supports both paint department and production activities. Duties may include:

  • Prepare equipment, parts, components, and other surfaces for paint or coating applications.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces by washing, wiping, vacuuming, caulking, taping, masking, and performing other preparation work.
  • Hang, lift, position, and move parts onto racks for cleaning, surface preparation, or painting.
  • Operate pressure-washing equipment for cleaning equipment and components.
  • Operate forklifts of various makes, models, and sizes in a safe manner.
  • Use overhead cranes when required for moving materials and equipment.
  • Properly wear and use respiratory protection when working conditions require it.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces and re-tap threaded holes when necessary.
  • Complete paint touch-up work to assist in returning equipment to OEM-quality condition.
  • Assist with equipment disassembly, cleaning, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Patch, finish, restore, and repair surfaces, including emergency repair work when necessary.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas through regular housekeeping.
  • Assist the Final Assembly team with production responsibilities when required.
  • Support the assembly and installation of electrical components when business needs require additional assistance.
Industrial Painter Training Opportunity

Employees who show interest and the ability to develop additional skills may have opportunities to receive supervised training in industrial painting.

Development may include:

  • Learning how to safely operate, clean, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial painting equipment.
  • Removing existing paint, finishes, and coatings in preparation for new coating applications.
  • Identifying different surface materials and selecting appropriate preparation and coating techniques.
  • Learning proper methods for mixing and matching paints, coatings, and finishes.
  • Preparing paint materials, tools, equipment, and work areas for industrial coating applications.
  • Applying coatings and finishes including epoxies, enamels, urethanes, paints, stains, varnishes, and lacquers.
  • Learning to operate HVLP, airless, and conventional spray-painting systems.
  • Performing quality inspections during the painting process to verify coating requirements and minimize rework.

Candidates selected for this position should be able to meet the following education, physical, technical, and workplace requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred. Candidates must have completed at least the 10th grade and have approximately one month of related experience or training. Comparable combinations of education, training, and work experience may also be considered.
  • A current, valid driver's license is required.
  • Employees must be capable of routinely lifting approximately 20 pounds, frequently handling loads weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lifting or moving items weighing as much as 100 pounds.
  • The position involves active, physical work and requires the ability to stand for extended periods as well as bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, and reach. Work is frequently performed while standing or moving on concrete surfaces.
  • Candidates must be able to read, interpret, and follow workplace safety guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, work procedures, diagrams, schedules, and other materials related to assigned duties.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required, including the ability to prepare routine reports and workplace correspondence.
  • Employees must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations used in a manufacturing environment, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and rates.
  • Basic computer proficiency is necessary for routine functions such as entering time worked and recording job hours.
  • Forklift and overhead crane certification consistent with OSHA requirements must either be held at the time of hire or successfully obtained as part of required job training.
  • Employees required to wear respiratory protection must successfully complete the applicable Pulmonary Function Test.
  • Candidates must be capable of working safely around manufacturing machinery, material-handling equipment, and moving equipment while consistently following all Intermountain Electronics safety rules, policies, and procedures.
Physical and Vision Requirements

The duties of this position require regular use of the hands and fingers to operate equipment, handle parts, and work with materials. Employees must also be able to reach with their hands and arms and communicate effectively through speaking and hearing.

Visual capabilities necessary for the position include adequate close vision, peripheral vision, color recognition, depth perception, and the ability to adjust visual focus.

Hours and Scheduling

This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of approximately 40 hours per week.

Additional hours or overtime may occasionally be required depending on production demands, workload, scheduling requirements, and other operational needs.
