Job summary

Orizon in Chanute, KS is seeking a Paint Preparation Technician to stage, sand, clean, and rack parts for prime and topcoat. The role requires reading work orders, identifying defects, and coordinating with quality and production teams.

You will work with the Paint Systems Manager and quality engineers, follow Ultra C-Lean/6s, and participate in NADCAP audits as needed. Overtime, weekends, and safety compliance are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Read and understand work order requirements.
• Capable of performing paint preparation activities: staging, sanding, cleaning, and racking.
• Report defects to leadership for instructions.
• Work with cross-functional teams including quality, lab, and management.
• Adhere to safety rules and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret work orders and routing.
• Identify parts with printed/electronic pictures on router.
• Stage parts for prime and topcoat; sand, clean, and rack parts.
• Report defects and coordinate with leadership for actions.
• Collaborate with Paint Systems Manager, quality engineer, and lab staff.
• Follow Ultra C-Lean/6s processes and safety standards.
• Participate in NADCAP and third-party audits as needed.
• Coordinate communications to meet production and PO requirements.
• Identify equipment/training needs and report to supervisor.
• Generate ORIZON reports to coordinate workflow.
• Ensure production, quality, and delivery schedules are met.
