Job summary

Owens Corning in Dallas–Fort Worth area seeks a production painter to apply finishes and prepare surfaces for coating. You will remove old paint, fill imperfections, and prime as needed while maintaining a clean, safe work area. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; prior production/painting experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret tickets and quality specs.
• Familiarity with painting processes, tools, and safety SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Apply paint, varnishes, and stains to interior and/or exterior surfaces.
• Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint using removers, scrapers, brushes, or blowtorches.
• Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or fillers.
• Prime surfaces as necessary.
• Maintain a safe work environment.
• Performs other miscellaneous jobs as directed.

Prepare door slabs and related components for refinishing and ensure measurements and milling are correct, repairs any components to ensure quality. Applies paint, varnishes, and stains to interior and/or exterior surfaces. Prepares surfaces for painting by removing old paint using paint removers, scrapers, wire brushes, or blowtorches. Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using a caulking gun or a putty knife. Primes surfaces as necessary.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to efficiently use air/hand tools to paint products, ability to read/understand humidity chart.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures with paint.
• Read and interpret ticket, door/customer quality specs.
• Knowledge of sanders, planers, hand tools, putty knife, sanding block, wood chisel.
• High attention to detail detecting defects.
• Regular attendance and timeliness are an essential function of the job in order to avoid any disruptions in production and customer service.
• Follow all operational and safety SOP's as written.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred but not required.
• Previous work experience in a production environment, preferred.
