You will perform painting and maintenance tasks for campus buildings, prepare surfaces, and mix colors to match finishes while documenting work orders and adhering to safety standards.

The role requires intermediate painting skills and familiarity with building systems maintenance, with on-call responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proven painting and building systems maintenance experience and knowledge of surface preparation for proper adhesion

Responsibilities

• Perform painting and maintenance tasks for university buildings and equipment following university standards and safety guidelines
• Apply paints, varnishes, stains, urethanes, enamels, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and related tools
• Prepare surfaces by removing old finishes, filling cracks and holes, and ensuring proper surface conditions before painting
• Mix and match paint colors, including custom color matching for aged, discontinued, or faded finishes
• Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner, including documenting labor hours, materials used, and work performed
• Identify and report maintenance, safety, sanitation, or repair concerns to supervisors
• Assist central shops, contractors, campus departments, and university events with support and maintenance needs
• Maintain inventory control, equipment security, and compliance with university, local, state, and federal regulations
• Participate in required safety training and collaborate with other Facilities Operations teams as needed
• Provide support during personnel shortages, emergencies, and other assigned maintenance duties
