Job summary

Powell Houston-Canton is seeking a Paint Line Materials Technician to support the production floor. You will load, move, and finish painted parts, ensuring quality and on-time progression through the line, with supervision and teamwork as needed.

Typical duties include preparing parts, feeding lines, labeling, and assisting with basic maintenance. This role requires reading basic drawings, following ISO procedures, and lifting up to 50 lbs as part of daily tasks, with a Monday–Thursday shift

Responsibilities

• Load unpainted metal parts onto the Paint Line to start coating.
• Feed copper bars and pipe onto the Bus Insulation Line Conveyor.
• Transfer components between manufacturing steps per routing.
• Unload finished parts and attach identification labels correctly.
• Sort and stack parts by part number and job number.
• Assist with daily/weekly maintenance on Paint Line and Bus Insulation Line equipment.

Paint Line Materials TechnicianYour Day, SimplifiedWeekday Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00am–4:30pmWeekly pay and full benefits starting day one.Start your morning on the production floor, working under close supervision while supporting Painters, Machine Operators, Welders, Material Handlers, and Leadpersons. You’ll keep parts moving, equipment maintained, and quality consistent—all while staying on schedule.What a Typical Shift Looks LikeKickoff: Load unpainted metal parts onto the Paint Line so coating can begin.Feed the flow: Place copper bars and pipe onto the Bus Insulation Line Conveyor.Keep parts moving: Transfer components from one manufacturing operation to the next per the part routing.Hands-on finishing: Remove finished parts from sheet metal skeletons.Quality handoff: Unload painted parts and attach the required identification labels accurately.Organize for speed: Sort and stack parts by their part number and job number combination.Prep for welding: Assemble kits of parts that will be welded.Team backup: Assist machine operators with tasks as requested.Occasional projects: Pitch in on painting, grinding, sanding, or general cleaning when directed by your supervisor or leadperson.Care for the line: Help with daily and weekly preventative maintenance for the Paint Line and Bus Insulation Line equipment and facilities.Wrap-up: End-of-shift cleanup—sweep, tidy, and reset your area.How You’ll WorkOperate with a basic command of English (written and verbal) to follow instructions and document work.Adhere to company operating procedures, safety rules, and ISO requirements.Comfortably lift up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis.Use a linear tape measure accurately.Leverage computer software to control equipment or look up company information.Learn to read mechanical part or assembly drawings.Work independently or as part of a small team and perform tasks with little direct supervision, while also being able to work under close supervision as needed.Maintain a clean, orderly workspace throughout the shift.If you like keeping production moving and take pride in accuracy and organization, you’ll thrive here from day one.
