Inova Health System is seeking a dedicated Pain Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join the team. This Full Time, M-F 8:00am - 4:30pm position will be primarily at the Fair Oaks Pain Clinic with possible travel to Fairfax East and Loudoun Pain Clinics as needed.

The role focuses on interventional pain procedures and supporting medications with an emphasis on nonopioid therapies to control and relieve pain, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Master's degree required.

Responsibilities

• See a mix of new patients and establish care under one physician at the Fair Oaks pain clinic, with support at other Fairfax/Loudoun locations as needed.
• Obtain comprehensive medical and pain histories.
• Perform focused physical exams of spinal, motor and musculoskeletal systems.
• Manage and assess acute and chronic pain conditions.
• Recommend non-opioid pharmacologic options and therapies.
• Provide patient education and coordinate referrals to Neurosurgery, Behavioral Health, Rehab/PT as appropriate.
• Assist with prior authorizations and care coordination as needed.

Pain Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for seeing a mix of new patients and establish patients to collaborate and support 1 physician at the Fair Oaks pain clinic as well as supporting additional physicians at other locations in Fairfax and Loudoun as needed.
• Obtain comprehensive medical and pain histories
• Performed focused physical exams (spinal, motor and musculoskeletal)
• Management and assessment of Acute and Chronic (mostly) pain management
• Recommend pharmacology options such as non-opioid management
• Patient education, referrals to Neurosurgery, Behavioral Health, Rehab/PT, etc. when appropriate
• Procedures interventions if interested: Trigger point and joint injections
• Assessing behavior comorbidities and referring to pain psychologist on staff when appropriate
• Assists and performs prior authorizations, peer -to- peers, patient follow ups

Common conditions managed:

- Chronic low back pain

- Neck pain

- Radiculopathy

- Spinal stenosis

- Degenerative disc disease

- Neuropathic pain

- Post surgical pain

Pain Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Minimum Requirements:

• Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. Master's degree required.
• Experience: Minimum of one year of clinical experience as an Advanced Practice Provider preferred. Prior experience in Pain Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Anesthesiology, Primary Care, or a related specialty is preferred. Experience evaluating and managing patients with acute and chronic pain conditions is desirable.
• Payer Credentialing: Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors and Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
• Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ year prior APP experience
