MercyOne Medical Group in Des Moines, IA seeks a part-time registered nurse to support outpatient care at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center and MercyOne Ankeny Ambulatory Surgery Center. Shifts vary by week, with no nights, holidays, weekends, or on-call duties.

You will assist with rooming patients, IVs and procedures, chart preparation, EMR documentation, patient education, and discharge instructions, while maintaining safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Current license as a registered nurse (Iowa).
• BLS certification within 6 weeks of hire.
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.

Responsabilités

• Provide nursing care and patient flow for office visits.
• Assist with IVs, labs, vital signs and patient education.
• Support procedures and post-procedure recovery, including discharge instructions.
• Prepare charts for upcoming appointments and ensure EMR documentation is complete.
• Perform EKG interpretation and ongoing physiologic assessment.

Employment Type:Part timeShift:Day ShiftDescription: Location varies as we practice out of MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center and MercyOne Ankeny Ambulatory Surgery Center. Colleagues are only assigned one location per shift.

Shifts scheduled will vary each week.

No nights, no holidays, no weekends, and no on call shifts.

This position will assist with rooming patients for office visits.

Assist with performing procedures: including admitting patients, assisting with procedures and setup of procedures and working recovery. This will include Inserting IVs for procedure, drawing labs, vitals, patient education, and providing discharge instructions, IV infusion management.

Assisting with chart preparation for upcoming appointments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Administers nursing care to patients; includes preparation and evaluation of pain patients prior to procedures in an efficient and caring manner to provide for a smooth patient flow.
• Proficient in IV skills.
• Review charts to ensure completeness in documentation.
• Prepares for cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of the patient and physician.
• Collects and analyzes data and assesses patient in developing nursing diagnosis.
• Communicates effectively with the patient, staff, physicians, families, and other health care team members.
• Promotes quality and service excellence in all aspects of patient care.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up, maintenance and use.
• Initiates and directs room clean up and turnover.
• EKG interpretation.
• Ongoing physiological assessment through all phases of the process.
• Performs documentation in the EMR accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner.
• Identifies patient/family educational needs and implements individualized measures to meet those.
• Supervises delegated tasks and duties.
• Participates in self-directed learning and in continuing education to meet own professional development
• Attends and successfully completes all generic and unit specific required education within the time frame defined in nursing policy.
• Assumes responsibility for knowledge of and adherence to approved hospital policy and structure and process standards.
• Participates in unit-based quality management activities as requested.
• Functions with an awareness and application of safety issues as identified within the institution.
• Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury).

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

• Participates in orientation and training of new personnel.
• Utilizes computer in disposition of specimens and obtaining pertinent information.
• Acts as team coordinator as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire
• Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within six (6) months of hire.
