Job summary

Cache Valley Electric Co. in Salt Lake City, UT offers a 2027 Summer Project Engineer Internship to gain hands-on experience in electrical construction and project management. You will work with Project Managers, Engineers, and field teams on active projects, learning the full lifecycle from preconstruction to closeout.

You will assist with drawings, RFIs, submittals, procurement, and scheduling while developing communication and leadership skills for a career in construction engineering.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in CM, EE, CE, or related field.
• Interest in construction, engineering, or PM careers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and take initiative.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel/Word/Outlook).
• Ability to work in both office and active construction-site environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Engineers with daily project activities.
• Review drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
• Help prepare, track, and maintain RFIs and submittals.
• Coordinate project documentation between office and field.
• Assist with material and equipment procurement, tracking, and delivery coordination.
• Participate in project planning, coordination, and progress meetings.
• Gain exposure to project schedules and tracking milestones.
• Learn how project costs, budgets, change orders, and forecasts are managed.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and other estimating tasks as needed.
• Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and other project partners.
• Visit active construction areas to gain field exposure.
• Work with field supervision to understand construction sequencing, productivity, and installation methods.
• Assist with project quality control and closeout documentation.
• Follow all safety requirements.
• Complete additional project assignments as directed.
