Job summary

UPMC's Student Nurse Internship (SNI) program provides a hands-on summer experience under a preceptor, in Cumberland, MD, for ten weeks in Summer 2027. You will work closely with a nurse, attend educational sessions, shadow other areas, and build confidence for a nursing career.

Applicants must be enrolled in a nursing program with a Fall 2027–Summer 2028 graduation forecast and a GPA around 3.0. The program offers mentorship and system-wide opportunities post-summer.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Nursing Program with expected graduation Fall 2027–Summer 2028.
• GPA 3.0 strongly preferred.
• Willingness to participate in orientation and summer events.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with a preceptor to observe a day in the life of a nurse.
• Shadow at least one additional area of nursing during placement.
• Attend supplementary educational sessions to continue learning.
• Work up to 40 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility as needed.

Education

Nursing program enrollment (Diploma, Associate, or BSN)

GPA 3.0 preferred
