Job summary

Cowboy Space Corporation, based in San Carlos, CA, is seeking interns to design, develop, and test software across flight, embedded, and ground systems for the space-based energy platform.

This quarter-long internship pays $1,800 weekly, with daily lunches and a fully stocked office kitchen. Interns will work on signal processing, RF/optical communications, and onboard compute alongside a world-class flight software team.

Qualifications

• Enrolled undergraduate/graduate in CS/CE/EE or related STEM field.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering: data structures, algorithms, and computer architecture.
• Proficiency in at least one systems or general-purpose language (C/C++/Python).
• Collaborative, self-directed work style; comfortable with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, and testing of software across flight, embedded, and ground systems.
• Build and maintain software for signal processing, RF/optical pipelines, and on-orbit compute.
• Develop tooling and services for mission operations, telemetry/command, and satellite health.
• Write, test, and debug code across the stack—from embedded xRTOS to ground/data systems.
• Collaborate with hardware/electrical/systems teams to define interfaces and validate behavior.
• Build simulation, test, and hardware-in-the-loop frameworks for spacecraft requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.
