Job summary

The Sonar Research and Development Division (SRDD) of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking undergraduate student interns to contribute to SONAR technologies through hands-on tasks. Interns will engage in material processing, transducer work, modeling, fabrication, testing, data analysis, and data display in a collaborative environment.

The paid internships are located at ARL’s Freeport facility, with up to 20 hours/week in fall and spring, and up to 40

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering or a related field.
• U.S. citizenship required for the security screening process.
• Eligibility to obtain a government security clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Support piezoelectric material processing.
• Characterization, production and procurement for fleet transducers.
• Support for transducer modeling, fabrication, and documentation.
• Support for acoustic testing, data analysis, and data display.
