Job summary

Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) seeks a College Intern - Public Information for the 2027 Winter/Spring Semester. Under supervision, the intern will assist with newsletters, gather road-activity information, and help write and distribute press releases to officials and media.

The role offers hands-on public information experience, flexible hours around school, and exposure to real-world transportation communications tasks. This is a temporary internship aligned with the student’s major.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and in good academic standing.
• Ability to support public information activities and communications.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and InDesign for creating newsletters and media materials.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, proofread, and distribute the monthly and statewide newsletters.
• Gather information on road closures, lane restrictions, detours, openings and maintenance activities.
• Assist in writing and distributing press releases to local and state officials and media.
• Provide general office support and maintain files; act as a back-up for greeting visitors and answering calls.
