Job summary

Nuevo Field Campaigns is hiring Political Canvassers to staff hot-spot locations across New Mexico through the 2026 election cycle, engaging voters face to face and delivering campaign messages.

This is hourly, shift-based work with evenings/weekends possible. Candidates must be 18+, reliable, and able to stand outdoors. Bilingual Spanish-English proficiency is preferred; rate is $25 per hour with bi-weekly pay.

Qualifications

• Reliable and punctual, able to commit to a set shift schedule.
• Able to stand, walk, and be outdoors for extended periods.
• Able to communicate messages clearly after training.

Responsibilities

• Voter Contact & Message Delivery at hot-spot locations (events, markets, transit hubs, etc.).
• Distribute campaign materials, literature, and signage.
• Answer basic voter questions and direct to additional resources as trained.
• Arrive on time in assigned gear and follow shift directions.
• Report site conditions or opportunities to the State Director or shift lead.
• Track basic shift output through simple check-ins.

Position Overview

Nuevo Field Campaigns is seeking Political Canvassers (Paid Canvassers) to staff hot-spotting locations across an assigned state through the 2026 election cycle. This is direct voter contact work, but it is not a traditional door-to-door canvass. Visibility Canvassers work high-traffic community locations, such as events, markets, transit hubs, and cultural and civic spaces, to talk with voters face to face, deliver the candidate’s or campaign’s message, and hand out materials. There is no voter-file data entry or canvass tracking involved in this role.

Reporting & Team Structure

This position reports directly to the State Organizing Director. Canvassers work in teams, alongside other canvassers assigned to the same hot-spot locations and shifts, and take day-to-day shift direction and site assignments from the State Director or whoever the State Director designates to lead a given shift.

Responsibilities

Voter Contact & Message Delivery

• Work assigned hot-spot locations (events, markets, transit hubs, cultural and civic spaces) for scheduled shifts.
• Initiate conversations with voters and community members and deliver the candidate’s or campaign’s message accurately and consistently.
• Distribute campaign materials, literature, and signage at assigned locations.
• Answer basic voter questions and direct people to additional resources, such as polling locations or registration deadlines, as trained.

Site & Shift Execution

• Arrive on time, in assigned gear and with assigned materials, ready to work each shift.
• Follow site assignments, coverage plans, and safety guidance from shift leads.
• Report site conditions, issues, or opportunities, such as a better location or a larger-than-expected event, back to the State Director or shift lead.
• Track and report basic shift output, such as materials distributed and approximate conversations had, through simple check-ins rather than a voter-file system.

Professionalism & Community Representation

• Represent Nuevo Field Campaigns and its clients professionally and respectfully in every interaction.
• De-escalate or disengage from hostile interactions per training, and flag safety concerns immediately.
• Maintain a positive, community-appropriate presence, understanding you may be the only representative of the campaign or client many voters meet in person.

Qualifications

Preferred

• Prior canvassing, organizing, retail, hospitality, or other public-facing experience.
• Bilingual Spanish-English proficiency.
• Familiarity with, or ties to, the communities being canvassed.
• Availability for evening and weekend shifts.

Compensation & Schedule

This is hourly, shift-based work, paid on a regular bi-weekly payroll schedule. Shifts are assigned around hot-spot program needs and may include evenings and weekends.
