Job summary

The City of Monroe is seeking Paid-On-Call Firefighters to respond to emergency calls, receive extensive training, and participate in maintenance, rescue, and EMS operations. You will help keep equipment and facilities ready while serving the community with pride.

Responsibilities include responding to calls, attending trainings, and engaging in public education efforts. A strong team ethic and physical fitness are essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Physically capable of lifting/moving up to 100 lbs.
• Firefighter I within 18 months, EMR within 18 months, CPR within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Respond to 3–5 emergency calls per week.
• Attend required training (2 Tuesday nights/month).
• Maintenance crew (2 Thursday nights/month).
• Participate in firefighting, rescue, and EMS operations.
• Maintain readiness of equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
• Engage in community fire prevention and public education.
