Job summary

Zekelman Industries' Wheatland Tube division in Rochelle, IL seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support projects that improve efficiency, productivity, and product quality on the shop floor. You will collaborate with the plant team and use CAD tools to plan layouts and analyze workflows.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering with at least one academic year remaining.
• Proficient in Excel; strong analytical and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for Internship Summit; on-site internship in Rochelle, IL.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design layouts for plant efficiency using CAD tools.
• Analyze workflows and material movement to optimize placement.
• Establish and support labor standards with time studies.
• Collect and analyze data to improve process effectiveness.
• Lead or assist continuous improvement projects to reduce costs.
• Develop and refine manufacturing processes and standard methods.
• Collaborate to identify root causes of net yield loss.
• Maintain work instructions, routings, and blueprints.
• Analyze prime net yield to support profitability initiatives.
• Conduct experiments to optimize operations and report findings.
• Promote safe work practices in line with policy.
