Job summary

Morven Kitchen Garden at the University of Virginia is seeking UVA students passionate about sustainable agriculture and community outreach to join the farm crew for 2027. This paid internship provides hands-on experience in crop selection, season planning, and small-scale farming.

Weekly hours range from 10 during the school year to 20 in summer, with a $15 per hour wage and a portion of the harvest. Ideal candidates are current UVA students who are reliable, able to lift up to 40 pounds, and

Qualifications

• Current UVA student with an interest in farming or gardening.
• Passion for sustainability and community outreach.
• Attention to detail, good listening and communication skills.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
• Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Learn and lead planting, weeding, harvesting, and operating farm equipment.
• Engage the community through volunteer events and educational activities.
• Wash, weigh, and pack produce for distribution to UVA Dine and CSA programs.
• Help maintain logs and records as part of GAP-related activities.
• Share Morven's story through social media and website content.
