Job summary

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a motivated college student for a paid summer internship in surveying and mapping. The role focuses on fieldwork, data processing, and learning to operate surveying equipment under guidance from mentors.

Location is Knoxville, TN or Tri-Cities, TN, with a strong emphasis on outdoor work and travel as needed. Candidates must be pursuing related degrees with a 3.0+ GPA and be at least 18 years old. Sponsorship is not required.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited university.
• Major: Surveying and Mapping or related field.
• Current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• You must be at least 18 years of age.
• Preference will be given to students that do not require sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Learn and operate survey equipment in the field to execute proper surveying techniques.
• Process survey data and perform basic field calculations.
• Interpret legal/property descriptions and boundary information.
• Operate survey instruments such as robotic total stations, GPS and laser scanners.
• Assist with boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, highway, route, utility and laser scanning surveys.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited university

Major: Surveying and Mapping or related field

GPA 3.0 or higher

At least 18 years of age

Preference given to students not requiring sponsorship
