Job summary

Straight and Narrow, headquartered in Paterson, NJ, seeks a Credentialed Counselor Intern for its Residential/Outpatient Treatment Facilities and Community Programs. This paid position offers a Monday–Friday schedule (9:00am–5:00pm) with Saturday rotation and a salary of $28.00–$30.00 per hour.

You will provide individual, group, family and didactic sessions, and manage caseloads to support treatment goals.

Qualifications

• HS/AA/BA/BS or MA/MSW degree with LSW/LCSW/LAC/LPC
• 1-3 years’ experience in addictions and/or mental health
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
• Familiar with NJSAMS, ASAM and LOCI
• Experience facilitating groups and individuals
• Proficient with computers
• Experience in fee-for-service environment a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, and family counseling; didactics; treatment planning and case management.
• Maintain client charts per DMHAS/CARF guidelines and agency policies.
• Attend MDT meetings and supervision sessions.
• Refer clients to health, psychiatric, vocational, and social services.
• Ensure timely documentation of sessions and treatment plans.
• Develop and monitor client treatment plans with input from the client.
• Assist with discharge/transfer planning and movement to appropriate levels of care.
• Coordinate with referral sources and collateral contacts.
• Support client participation in AA/NA/GA activities.
• Adhere to EHR policies and professional boundaries.
