A companion position varies in hours but generally follows a set and recurring schedule. We hire both experienced healthcare workers and individuals with personal experience in elder care, memory care, or caregiving. This includes artists, performers, nursing and graduate students, educators, caseworkers, and professionals seeking a rewarding second career. It's ideal for those working freelance or part-time who want a consistent, meaningful role.

Duet is a companion care agency serving older adults across the five boroughs. Our mission is to connect our Elder clients with outstanding companions to enhance their quality of life through social engagement, activities, and assistance with daily tasks that become more challenging with age. Our focus on matchmaking fosters long-lasting connections.

This role does not require "hands-on" care such as dressing or bathing assistance.

Typical Activities and Responsibilities:

• Providing companionship to older adults and individuals with chronic conditions, including discussing current events, shared interests, or outings to cultural venues.
• Assisting with non-physical tasks like meal prep, grocery shopping, and light housework such as laundry or disposing of leftovers.
• Ensuring safety, standby assistance with ambulation, medication reminders, and following care plans.
• For clients with dementia, communicating effectively, providing mental stimulation, and ensuring safety as needed.

We support our caregivers with training and ongoing assistance from a team specialized in elder and memory care.
