Nebraska Medicine's Heart Monitoring Unit offers a full-time internship that serves as an entry path to becoming a Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist. Interns perform inpatient and outpatient EKGs, educate patients on monitoring devices, and support diagnostic workflows in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The program includes progressive telemetry and rhythm interpretation training through mentorship and required testing, with a pathway to a tech role.

Formación

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Ability to work on call required.
• BLS certification from an American Heart Association endorsed program.
• Completion of internal training program within 6 months of hire.
• Be prepared to test into and qualify for a Non-Invasive Cardiac Tech Role within 6 months of hire.
• Two years' experience in EKG preferred.
• College courses in physiology, anatomy, and related subjects preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of allied health/technology preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Gain hands-on experience performing adult and pediatric EKGs, applying Holter monitors and cardiac event recorders.
• Interact directly with patients, nurses, staff and physicians while transcribing test results into the EHR.
• Complete internship through self-study with provided educational materials and required testing.
• Internship culminates in the Non-Invasive Cardiology entrance exam and progression to the Tech role.
• On shift, study between performing EKGs and prepare for transition into the Non-Invasive Cardiology Technologist role.
