The Old Globe, a Tony Award-winning theatre and one of the country’s leading regional LORT B+ theatres seeking qualified applicants for Assistant Wig and Makeup Supervisor. The Old Globe is known for producing a broad range of work from Shakespeare and the classical repertoire to world premiere musicals and plays on its three stages, plus a “Globe for All” touring program that performs in community venues throughout San Diego County.
The position will assist the Wig and Makeup Supervisor in building, styling, and maintaining wigs, hair and make up for The Old Globe’s 15-show season and additional projects. The position also requires maintaining a clean, well-organized workspace, and participating in maintaining a large stock of wigs, products, and equipment used in the creation of wigs, hairstyles and makeup.
Desired Skills and Experience: Two to four years’ experience in a theatrical wig shop or equivalent combination of wig, professional hairdressing and cutting, and makeup experience and/or training required. Must have experience ventilating wigs. A cosmetology license would be welcome but not required.
Work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday 40 hours/week, 9am-6pm, with overtime and weekend assignments. This is a full-time, IATSE Local 122 Union position available May 2025. The hourly rate is $27.01/hour; benefits include vacation, and IATSE Pension, and Union Health plans.
