Job summary

Beck's Hybrids in London, OH invites applications for a Practical Farm Research Intern. This paid, part-time internship runs from May through August 2027 and includes furnished housing or a stipend.

Interns participate in planting, data collection and thinning, plot identification, and production modules to gain hands-on agronomic experience on Beck's Hybrids’ farm sites. Prior agricultural coursework and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate coursework in an agricultural-related field.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• This is a safety-sensitive position.
• Chauffeur license or equivalent may be required.

Responsibilities

• Planting Module: intern learns how to set up and plant research studies at the PFR farm site, including organizing seed, planting, cleaning equipment, and flagging plots.
• Data Collection and Thinning Module: intern collects, reports, and analyzes stand count data and thins plots to desired populations.
• Plot Identification Module: intern learns how plots are designed and mapped and how to identify varieties and technologies by numbering and placing signs.
• Production Module: intern learns aspects of production agriculture by supporting Beck’s Hybrids sales staff and may ride along with the Location Lead on customer calls to evaluate product performance.
