This role establishes supplier governance and commercial standards, leads complex sourcing and negotiation strategies, and provides senior oversight for supplier performance, operational readiness, risk, and continuous improvement.
We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing & Contract Manufacturing Lead to define and advance the organization’s approach to managing contract manufacturers and critical suppliers. This role establishes supplier governance and commercial standards, leads complex sourcing and negotiation strategies, and provides senior oversight for supplier performance, operational readiness, risk, and continuous improvement.
Serving as a functional leader and advisor, the position guides supplier relationship owners and cross-functional partners in making consistent, well-informed decisions that balance business requirements, supply continuity, and long-term supplier capability.
The ideal candidate brings extensive strategic sourcing and contract manufacturing experience, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and improve organizational capability without relying on direct authority.
- Define and lead the management model for contract manufacturers and critical suppliers, including governance, performance expectations, review cadence, escalation protocols, and continuous improvement priorities.
- Establish expectations for cost, quality, delivery, inventory, capacity, responsiveness, compliance, operational readiness, and business continuity.
- Guide supplier relationship owners in resolving complex commercial, operational, quality, and supply continuity issues.
- Lead supplier performance reviews and long-term improvement plans that deliver measurable business results.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Program Management to align supplier capabilities and deliverables with business requirements.
- Provide senior recommendations on supplier selection, transitions, capacity, investments, production readiness, and risk acceptance.
- Develop and maintain sourcing and supplier-management standards, tools, and scorecards covering segmentation, strategy, performance reviews, corrective actions, contract alignment, financial health, escalation, and risk mitigation.
- Lead negotiation strategies for complex or high-risk engagements, including objectives, leverage, target outcomes, concessions, approvals, walk-away positions, and commercial risk tradeoffs.
- Partner with HP Sourcing and Legal stakeholders to strengthen contract standards, commercial guardrails, and review governance.
- Identify systemic gaps and lead improvements that strengthen accountability, consistency, and executive decision-making.
- Provide functional leadership and mentoring to team members managing suppliers, commodities, and contract manufacturing partners.
- Advise team members and leaders on supplier strategy, negotiations, executive communications, escalations, and cross-functional alignment.
- Review supplier strategies and performance assessments before major engagements or decisions.
- Develop reusable tools, templates, playbooks, and best practices that improve supplier-management capability across the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Typically 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in strategic sourcing, supplier management, procurement, supply chain, contract manufacturing, or related fields.
- Demonstrated record of leading complex supplier strategies, contract manufacturing governance, supplier performance, negotiations, and commercial decisions while influencing senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of contract manufacturing business models, supplier relationship management, commercial agreements and manufacturing operations.
- Exceptional communication, coaching, negotiation, influence and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience within industrial equipment, manufacturing, printing, or technology industries.
- Experience leading global suppliers and multinational sourcing projects.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, CSCP, or equivalent.
- Experience with supplier performance management systems, procurement analytics, and business process automation.
- Sustained improvement in contract manufacturer cost, quality, delivery, inventory, capacity, and responsiveness.
- Improved commercial value and reduced risk exposure in high-value or high-risk agreements.
- Consistent compliance with supplier and commercial governance requirements.
- Reduced supply risk and stronger business continuity.
- Timely, well-informed executive decisions on supplier strategy, transitions, capacity, and long-term investments.

The pay range for this role is $116,150 to $182,400 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
