Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care's Department of Nursing seeks a Staff Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit to support patient care under the Nurse Manager's supervision. This 50-100% position features a sign-on bonus up to $10,000, rotating 8- to 10-hour shifts (0800-2400) with occasional call, and campus-based duties on the University Campus.

Eligible candidates must hold an RN license in Iowa and have a degree in nursing; strong communication and teamwork are essential to coordinate care

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
• General computer skills required.
• Current license to practice nursing in Iowa required by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Applies nursing theory to assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses.
• Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
• Coordinates continuum of care across settings.
• Develops and implements patient care plan based on condition and patient factors.
• Documents interventions and patient/family response.
• Collaborates with patients and families in care planning.
• Develops transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
• Implements nursing interventions per policies to maintain a safe environment.
