Job summary

MercyOne Central Iowa seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse for part-time night shifts in Des Moines, IA. The role requires delivering high‑quality care across patient ages, coordinating with the care team, and adhering to the Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.

The RN will work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled, with responsibilities spanning assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care plans, while ensuring patient education and safety at all times.

Qualifications

• Current RN license or compact state license as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
• BLS certification within six weeks of hire (American Heart Association).
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Administers nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s care plan.
• Provides care guided by physician orders, unit protocols, and nursing judgment.
• Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, patients and families.
• Participates in ongoing clinical education and professional development.
• Delivers patient care with attention to safety, autonomy, dignity and rights.
• Utilizes hospital information systems to process orders and retrieve patient data.
