Job summary

Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA, seeks a Registered Nurse for the 10-bed Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The role offers 0.9 FTE with options for shift tracks, including Day and Evening, and a rotating call schedule within 30 minutes of the hospital.

The PACU handles Phase I recovery across multiple surgeries, with specialties from vascular to GI, under guidance of anesthesiologists and proceduralists.

Qualifications

• RN license in good standing is required.
• BSN preferred; ADN acceptable with experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive post-anesthesia assessments and manage airway, hemodynamics, and pain control.
• Maintain unit flow for a 10-bed PACU and prioritize discharge readiness.
• Collaborate with Anesthesiologists, Surgeons, and Proceduralists to ensure continuity of care.
• Administer medications per policy and patient needs.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions.
