Note: This is a PRN position. POSITION SUMMARY

Provides safe, quality patient care in ambulatory outpatient surgery center.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Evaluate, plan, implement and document patient care, observations, medications, and medical history
  • Observe the patient according to appropriate physiological and developmental age
  • Administer medications following physician orders
  • Ability to initiate and coordinate pain management; ability to manage patient airway post-surgery
  • Serve as liaison between patient, family, and surgical team to coordinate all aspects of nursing care and teaching in order to achieve desired outcomes and ensure patient safety
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Graduate of accredited post-secondary school of nursing required.

Experience: 1 year of previous PACU or Critical Care (RF, ICU, or similar) experience required.

Computer Skills: Must be computer literate. Basic computer skills required.

Certifications & Licenses: Current TN Registered Nurse License or Multistate Nurse Licensure Compact required.

BLS and ACLS certification required.

PALS certification preferred.

Other Requirements: Ability to immediately recognize and initiate treatment in emergency situations (perform CPR).

Must be able to read and interpret EKG monitor.

Must have knowledge of anesthetic agents used - inhalation, moderate sedation and injection; the usual dosages, symptoms of and toxic amounts, duration of action, contraindications, antidotes, etc.

Able to operate and troubleshoot equipment found in surgery.
