Ophthalmology Surgery Center of Illinois seeks a Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. You will care for patients before, during, and after procedures, educate families, and support recovery with compassionate care.

Expect a positive work-life balance with no nights, weekends, or holidays. Current Illinois RN license and BLS/PALS required; ACLS within one year is expected. Compensation includes benefits and certification-supported growth.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) / Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within one year of employment.
• Minimum of one year of related work experience in a surgical/operating room environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to individuals in pre-surgical, operative and recovery periods; collaborate with medical staff and other departments daily to coordinate patient care.
• Ensure quality of care by adhering to compliance standards and nursing act regulations.
• Provide emotional support to patients, families and friends.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment by following procedures and regulations; request assistance as needed.
• Adhere to infection-control policies and handle medications and controlled substances appropriately.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse position is responsible for treatment and care of our surgical patients. They record patient symptoms, administer medications and assist with patient rehabilitation. The registered nurse educates patients and family members about medical conditions and provides emotional support. RNs work within the context of the surgical team to provide care to individuals before, during and after a surgical procedure.

WHAT WE OFFER:

Starting hourly wage ranging from $34 -$40 based on previous experience

6.5 paid holidays per year

Approximately 8 days of PTO within first year

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide direct patient care to individuals in the pre-surgical, operative and recovery periods; collaborates with medical staff and other departments daily to promote coordination of patient care.
• Assure quality of care by adhering to compliance standards; following ASC philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
• Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
• Protect patients and staff by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
• Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.

REQUIREMENTS:

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment

Current certification in Basic Life Support / Pediatric Advance Life Support

Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required to be obtained within one (1) year of employment

Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience in a surgical/operating room environment is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT (per ADA guidelines):

Physical Activity: Standing for sustained periods of time, Stooping, Grasping, Lifting, Talking, Hearing.The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform each activity.

Physical requirements: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
