Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The role supports patients immediately post-surgery, with a focus on safety, documentation, and teamwork.

The ideal candidate holds an active NJ RN license and BLS/ACLS/PALS, with 1+ year perioperative or critical care experience. The position offers a 36-hour week, 8:30am–9:00pm, in a collaborative unit under the Peri-Op Division, with continuous education opportunities.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS & PALS certifications.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
• At least one year of current patient care experience in Peri-OP or Critical Care.
• Experience with EMR systems (EPIC).

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and recognize clinical changes, intervening early.
• Provide safe, evidence-based medications, treatments and hands-on care.
• Collaborate with physicians and providers to support timely care decisions.
• Educate patients and families to ensure understanding and preparation for next steps.
• Document accurately in the EMR to promote continuity and safety.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary rounds and effective communication.
