Job Title: Post-Anesthesia Care RN
Location: Miami VA Healthcare System (including 7 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics)
Period of Performance: 03/12/2025 – 03/11/2030
Shift Schedule: Rotating eight (8), ten (10) and twelve-hour (12) tours on rotating day, night, and evening shifts, to include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. On-call status is required for afterhours care.
Position Description:
The Operating Room (OR) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized perioperative care within a dynamic, high-acuity environment. Working in an 11-room operating suite with a 14-bed PACU, the RN delivers patient-centered care across a broad spectrum of surgical specialties, including general, cardiothoracic, vascular, endovascular, plastic, ophthalmology, genitourinary, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, ENT, and robotic procedures. The OR RN is integral to the surgical team, serving as both a circulating nurse and scrub nurse, maintaining a safe, sterile environment, assisting surgeons, and ensuring seamless patient care throughout the surgical process. In the PACU, the RN monitors post-anesthesia patients, ensuring smooth recovery by addressing vital signs, pain, and post-surgical symptoms, while educating and supporting patients and families through recovery protocols. This role requires advanced clinical skills, precision, and adaptability to uphold patient safety, surgical standards, and quality care in fast-paced, critical situations.
Skills: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) RN Skills will monitor post-operative patients' levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia. Following the ASPAN Standard and regulatory standards:
PACU RNs must have BLS and ACLS certifications to perform duties within the Operating Room/PACU Unit. The personnel assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this task order shall possess an unrestricted license to practice nursing in one of the States, Territories, or Commonwealths of the United States or the District of Columbia.
