Job summary

Lakeside Surgery Center in Florida is seeking a PRN Pre Op/PACU Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to serve Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties. The role supports a leading ophthalmic surgery center affiliated with Ascend Vision Partners.

You will assess patients pre- and post-operatively, prepare them for procedures, monitor vital signs, manage IVs, and document care while collaborating with clinicians to ensure top-notch patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Florida state license as RN or LPN.
• Minimum 1 year experience as RN or LPN in ambulatory surgery or operating room; ophthalmology preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to surgery.
• Ensure operative and informed consents are signed and correct.
• Take and record vital statistics to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
• Initiate intravenous lines (IV) and inform patients about procedures.
• Assess post-operative condition and monitor progress toward discharge criteria.
• Log all findings in patient files and respond to patient questions.
• Monitor for condition changes and communicate with physicians; intervene during emergencies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assesses, instructs & prepares patients prior to surgery
• Ensures that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
• Takes and records vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
• Initiates intravenous lines (IV) and ensures patients are informed about procedure(s)
• Assesses patients’ post-operative condition
• Monitors vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria
• Logs all findings in patient files
• Responds to patient questions and ensures patient comfort
• Monitors patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
• Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills, be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, required.
• Current Florida state license to practice as a registered nurse or licensed practice nurse, required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse in an ambulatory surgery or operating room, required. Ophthalmology experience, preferred.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification, required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, preferred.
