Stony Brook Medicine seeks a Medical Assistant for the In Patient PACU, full-time, day shift. The role supports clinical, laboratory, and clerical tasks under supervision to prepare patients for procedures and record vital data.

The posted salary is $52,359 per year with emphasis on EMR experience and a NY HELPS placement, including potential for conversion and competitive benefits. Day shift, non-supervisory duties, and essential staff status apply.

Qualifications

• Either 1: one year of full time experience performing clinical and clerical support activities in a health care setting.
• Or 2: completion of a college, university, technical school or vocational school medical assistant program.
• Experience with EMR is preferred.
• BLS or Heart Saver certification is preferred.
• Current certification for Medical Assistant is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Perform clinical, laboratory, and clerical duties in hospital settings as directed by nursing and physicians.
• Screen and measure vital signs, obtain EKGs, and document results.
• Prepare patients for exams or procedures and assist physicians during examinations.
• Greets patients, directs them to the correct location, and maintains stock in patient care areas.
• Collect specimens, process orders, and ensure proper disinfection and safety practices.
