Job summary

Good Samaritan University Hospital, part of Catholic Health, seeks a Perisurg Assistant to support the Registered Nurse in delivering safe patient care on the unit.

You will assist with direct patient care, prepare meals and feeding, transport patients, collect specimens, and help maintain equipment and inventory, while upholding policies and patient comfort.

This role requires a high school diploma and BLS certification, with preferred prior hospital experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience preferred; ability to interpret medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with direct patient care with attention to personal hygiene, safety and comfort.
• Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding; distribute water and nourishments.
• Assist and/or transport patients in a timely and safe manner.
• Collect and transport specimens per regulatory standards.
• Communicate patient information to RN re: pain and condition; respond to emergencies as directed.
