Job summary

LeadingAge Virginia seeks a Pre-Operative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse to manage pre-op and recovery care for surgical patients. The RN will lead direct patient care, follow established practice standards, and report to the Perioperative Nurse Manager.

The role emphasizes clinical excellence and leadership in complex situations. Candidates must have an approved nursing program, active RN licensure, and ACLS.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency is required for direct patient care positions.
• Graduation from a nursing program approved by the accrediting body and licensed to practice in the U.S.
• State license as a Registered Nurse (RN) with full, active and unrestricted status.
• Advanced practice bridge programs or BSN + experience paths may be considered for licensure via equivalency.
• Foreign-educated nurses require degree equivalency validation per VA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care during pre-operative, Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery.
• Administer medications as prescribed by anesthesia or surgical teams with safety precautions.
• Demonstrate leadership in perioperative patient care and collaborate with the team.
• Respond to resuscitation events and manage clinical emergencies effectively.
• Maintain certification in ACLS and ensure ongoing competency across perioperative care.
