Job summary

Penn Medicine, a leading academic medical center, seeks a PACS IT Administrator to oversee network management and operations for PACS servers and workstations. You will ensure connectivity between modalities and PACS/RIS, support radiology IT initiatives, and coordinate with vendors and other IT teams.

The role includes deploying technology for PACS imaging, monitoring projects and budgets, and developing training for radiologists and users.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science in Information Systems or related area; or 5+ years’ experience managing/supporting PACS systems and radiology applications.
  • Experience with radiology workflows and radiology-specific applications.
  • Knowledge of DICOM and HL7 protocols; Experience with Change Healthcare PACS, Workflow Intelligence, Powerscribe, and structured reporting data.
  • Experience with desktop deployment in both physical and Virtual Desktops.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in evaluating and prioritizing the deployment of technology for PACS radiology imaging and information initiatives.
  • Monitors and oversees major implementation projects, hours and budget for current and planned upgrades for PACS.
  • Manages and oversees the day-to-day performance of PACS systems as they support department operations. Develop and implement tools to monitor system performance and provide metrics.
  • Develops and implements training for all users, including the radiologists.
  • Provides regular status report updates to management on PACS operations as requested.
  • Ensures that the right timing, resources and sequences of work efforts are applied to meet department deadlines.
  • Facilitates communication with vendors as appropriate for current and planned IT projects.
  • Works in conjunction with other systems administrators to keep current IT upgrades on schedule and develops solutions to overcome obstacles.

Education

Bachelor of Arts or Science in Information Systems or related area
5+ years’ experience managing/supporting PACS systems and other radiology specific applications

Summary

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science in Information Systems or related area OR 5+ years 5 or more years’ experience managing/supporting PACS systems and other radiology specific applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years’ experience in health care operations.- Knowledge of DICOM and HL7 Protocols, Radiology Systems.- Experience with Change Healthcare PACS and Workflow Intelligence, Powerscribe and structured Reporting data.- Experience with desktop deployment in both physical and Virtual Desktops.
