Position Summary

This position will have responsibility for operating, maintaining, and repairing existing production equipment. Responsible for preventive maintenance on Pack size machine.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements of all equipment.
  • Troubleshoot any issues of mechanical devices, correct issues as necessary to maintain productivity/quality standards.
  • Control downtime by communicating with all departments.
  • Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventories, conserve resources when able.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, document and communicate actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner using all personal protective, safety equipment and devices that are required, and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Schedules and runs jobs.
  • Receives orders.
  • Uses SAP system.
  • May provide direction to other Pack size Operators.
  • Responsible for utilizing computer programs to set up scores, knives, and slots.
  • Must be able to select correct board grade and produce cartons, choose correct stock size to run orders most efficiently with minimal waste.
  • Must be able to measure samples using rules to detect any deviation in location of scores and creases. Must be able to follow Standard Quality Processes.
  • Must be willing to train and mentor Packsize Helper position.
  • Be actively involved in Continuous Improvement.
Education / Certifications

Education Required: None
Education Desired: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Skills & Experience

Work Experience Required: Previous Pack Size Operator, Pack Size helper, machine operator or machine.
Knowledge, Skills, Or Abilities Desired:

  • Must have basic math, reading, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and, where necessary, complete: a blueprint, an electrical schematic, operating and maintenance manuals, a work order, repair parts request, standard and metric tape measure.
  • Other measuring equipment: a micrometer, a caliper, a scale, a VOM (Volt/Ohm Meter).
  • Advanced knowledge of machine operations and mechanical functions.
  • Ability to disassemble, repair, and troubleshoot plant machines.
  • Ability to overhaul, rebuild and troubleshoot plant machines.
  • Ability to make simple parts or equipment and tools.
Additional Requirements

Physical Requirements: Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
