Packing/Mechanical Engineer III (Job Number: 343349)

Textron Systems is seeking a full‑time Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design focused on transportation packaging. The candidate should possess good communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting with suppliers within a multidiscipline team. The position requires experience integrating component design solutions into an overall assembly. This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. citizen or be able to obtain a Secret level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Writing specifications for, or designing, packaging for transportation, storage and handling of deliverable items weighing from a few to several hundred pounds
• Participating in the detailed design of structural components.
• Being a member of a team responsible for the development and design integration of mechanical components and systems.
• Creation of Technical Data Packages that include 3D drawings, specifications and materials lists for component and assemblies of mechanical and electro‑mechanical applications.
• Preparing and directing high quality mechanical and electro‑mechanical detail and assembly drawings.
• Transitioning product design to production and test.
• Writing technical and proposal documents.
• Creating detailed design reports and presentations to summarize design/analysis results.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of material properties, manufacturing processes, and structural design
• Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑810 transport requirements, including but not limited to shock, vibration, environmental hazards
• Well versed in CAD design utilizing 3D digital product development tools and understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in a related field
• Possesses or has ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance

The pay range for this position is $110,500 - $167,900 per year.
