Job summary

Gotham Greens is seeking a Packhouse Production Assistant to join our rapidly growing urban greenhouse network. This hands-on role involves packing and weighing produce, sorting for quality, labeling and staging products, and assisting with greenhouse operations.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, maintain GMP/GAP/SSOP compliance, and contribute to clean, organized production spaces while supporting a team focused on fresh, sustainable greens year round.

Qualifications

• Stand for an 8-hour shift with consistent pace.
• Open availability for varied schedules, including holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Pack containers and weigh to target weights with scales.
• Sort and select high quality produce for packing.
• Identify unacceptable product for discard and handle accordingly.
• Label, box and stage product materials and supplies.
• Assist greenhouse production operations and inventory handling.
• Follow GMP, GAP and SSOP policies and keep areas clean.

Packhouse Production Assistant positions are hands-on and require individuals who enjoy rolling up their sleeves and are accustomed to manual labor-intensive jobs. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and organized individual to assume a position at a rapidly growing, innovative, disruptive company in the 21st century food system.AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYPacking Containers of Fresh ProduceSorting and selecting high quality product to packIdentifying unacceptable quality product to discardFilling containers to an accurate weight using scalesProperly handling product and containers to maximize shelf life and appearance to the company’s visual expectationsPerforming repetitive tasks at a consistent pace which meets productivity expectationsProduction SupportAssisting Greenhouse Production operations, including transplanting seedlings, harvesting plants, and handling growing equipmentHandling, organizing, and loading production supplies and equipmentAssisting with inventory control and cold storage organizationLabelling, boxing, and staging product materials and suppliesOther duties as assignedFood Safety and SanitationFollow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Good Agricultural Practices (GAP’s), company food safety policies, and sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOP’s).Assist with daily cleaning of production areas, equipment, and suppliesAssist with periodic cleaning of common areas in facilityQUALIFICATIONSRequirements:Be authorized to work in the USLift 50 poundsStand for a full 8-hour shiftMaintain a steady pace with attention to detailMust have a reliable form of transportationOpen availability to work various work schedules including holidays and weekendsMust be able to work in varying temperatures that are anywhere from 55 degrees (within the Packhouse) to 90 degrees (within the Greenhouse).WHO WE AREGotham Greens is on a mission to transform how and where fresh produce is grown.
