Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking workers to perform a variety of packer and hand duties after harvest in North Dakota. Duties include inspecting containers, sorting by color and quality, weighing and recording weights, and loading products for market. English speakers only; ability to lift up to 75 lbs essential.

Housing and meals are provided by the employer, with weekly transport to stores when cooking facilities are available. A drug test may be required after hire.

Responsibilities

• Examine and inspect containers, materials, or products to ensure quality and specifications are met.
• Sort according to color, species, length, width, appearance, feel, smell, and quality to ensure correct processing.
• Operate grain conditioning tools and dryers to meet quality standards.
• Load out products using hand trucks or forks and move items as needed.
• Weigh crop-filled containers and record weights and other identifying information.
• Place products in containers according to grade.
• Weigh products or estimate weight by feel.
• Discard defective products and ensure only good items proceed.
• Monitor and report grain grades.
• Maintain organized work areas and storage facilities.
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures for a safe workplace.
• Drive truck to deliver grain to market facilities when ports allow.

Job description

Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties which can only occur post harvest when crop acres are dormant due to cold weather and short daylight hours found in SOC Code 53-7064 Packers and Packagers, Hand such as:

• Examine and inspect containers, materials, or products to ensure that quality and specifications are met
• Sort according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel, smell, and quality to ensure correct processing and usage
• Function and monitor grain conditioning tools to ensure efficient and safe conditioning of grain to meet quality standards including running dryers to pull down moisture content
• Load out products using hand trucks, forklifts, suction gates, shovels, brooms
• Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information
• Place products in containers according to grade
• Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel
• Discard inferior, diseased, rotten, or defective products or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing
• Monitor and report grain grades
• Maintain an organized work environment, including storage areas and surrounding facilities
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the team
• Drive truck to deliver grain to market facilities as ports allow
• Must be able to speak and understand English

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
