Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is hiring for a production associate at our Wisconsin plant. You will perform grading, packing, labeling, and quality checks to ensure product integrity and adherence to specifications.

The role requires strong teamwork, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and adherence to safety and rotation procedures. We offer competitive pay of $22.91/hour, comprehensive health insurance, retirement benefits, and education opportunities for eligible team members.

Responsibilities

  • Proper grading, scaling, labeling, and packing of products.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of workspace.
  • Grade products according to quality specifications.
  • Visually inspect seals on pouches before packing them in a box.
  • Pack products – bags, boxes, etc.
  • Label containers and mark weights.
  • Follow rotation every 30 minutes and assist in department clean‑up as required.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Proper grading, scaling, labeling, and packing of products.
  • Good housekeeping of workspace.
  • Grades product according to quality specifications.
  • Visually inspect seals on pouch before packing them in a box.
  • Packs product - bags, boxes, etc.
  • Labels containers and marks weights.
  • May assist in departmental clean‑up as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
  • Follow rotation every 30 minutes
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader and Supervisor.

The majority of the time is spent in the plant environment and will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Noise level is loud in the production area and hearing protection is always required. Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. Vision requirement of at least 20/40 for near and far vision.

  • Bump cap, hair/beardnet, eye protection/goggles, hand protection, apron, raingear, hearing protection and safety shoes
