Job Description Overview:
The Packer will be responsible for pulling plastic items (preforms) from a box and placing them on the conveyor, or pulling bottles and jars from a conveyor belt, inspecting them per QC specifications, and packaging them according to packaging standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety policies.
- Follow GMP policies & guidelines.
- Remove plastic preforms from boxes, inspect per quality specifications, and place on conveyor as instructed.
- Remove bottles/jars from conveyor belt, inspect per quality standards.
- Pack bottles/jars according to posted packaging specifications.
- Report any product issues or quality concerns to co-workers, Lead, or shift change personnel.
- Operate production equipment; start & stop machines as trained, clear jams.
- Assist in documenting quality issues or machine downtime.
- Form boxes & trays manually as needed; operate box-making machinery.
- Ensure defects are categorized and separated.
- Perform cleaning and sanitation of machines as required.
- Maintain housekeeping at the work center or as directed.
- Follow VPET's Quality Management System including procedures and work instructions.
- Perform any other tasks assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Other skills and abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English preferred.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Work effectively in a team and individually.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Willingness to work scheduled shifts, including overtime and weekends.
- Commitment to the success of the organization.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Perform pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
- Perform repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping.
- Work environment in a warehouse with temperature variations.
- Fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
