Job summary

Silgan Plastics Corporation in Flora, IL is seeking a reliable packaging operator to inspect and pack bottles on assigned lines at standard rate, support housekeeping, scrap removal, and grinding, and assist with loading and labeling duties.

You may operate a punch, load conveyors or flamers, and unitize cartons; strong safety practices and teamwork are essential in this at-will, equal-opportunity environment.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment.
• Understand and adhere to Silgan safety policies to prevent injury to self and co-workers.
• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator/coordinator.
• Pack at standard rate.
• Operate a punch.
• Load conveyors and flamers.
• Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.
• Remove scrap from around the line.
• Grind and pull plastic as needed.
• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
• Initial and date box labels.
• Make out unit tickets.
• Do any other work as assigned by the Supervisor.
