Job summary

Southside Market & Barbeque in Elgin, TX is seeking a Packaging Technician I to join our processing team. Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor/FSQA Manager, you will package raw and smoked products, operate the packaging equipment, and ensure labels meet USDA guidelines.

Responsibilities include cutting and packaging products, weighing, pricing, boxing for shipping, sanitizing equipment, and maintaining a clean packaging area.

Qualifications

• One to two years of food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Food Handler Certification required; Southside can assist in obtaining this.
• Ability to understand English for all job-related circumstances.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cuts and packages processed products.
• Uses shrink machine to wrap packages
• Labels all packages according to USDA guidelines
• Weighs and prices all packaged products
• Boxes all products and prepares them for shipping
• Operates the packaging machine.
• Weighs and prices product
• Produces raw product according to USDA
• Sanitizes and maintains packaging equipment
• Cleans and sanitizes the packaging area according to USDA
• Observes safety and security standards.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

One to two years' of food manufacturing experience preferred

Food Handler Certification required...Southside can assist you in obtaining this

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Physical Demands
