Job summary

Sonoco's internship program in the Consumer Packaging America Division, based in Hartsville, South Carolina, offers a 12-week paid experience with hands-on projects and mentorship from industry leaders.

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, Materials or Packaging Science, you’ll showcase leadership and strong communication, with housing and activity stipends and relocation support provided.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program with a concentration in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, Materials or Packaging Science.
• Previous internship experience is preferred.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on projects within manufacturing and packaging environments.
• Engagement with Sonoco leadership and mentors.
• Participation in plant tours and real-time feedback sessions.
• Collaboration across engineering, quality, safety, and operations teams.
