The Packaging Supervisor is responsible in the aid of the tableting, filling, packaging and labeling of pharmaceutical products.

MENTAL:
- Mathematics: Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Must be able to understand and calculate conversion of systems of weights and measures, e.g., English, metric and units. Must be able to understand exponential mathematics
- Language: Read, write and speak English well enough to communicate effectively
- Mechanical: Must understand proper and safe use of equipment used in mensuration (balances and scales), tablet compression, counting, labeling, closing and other.
AUTHORITY:
Has authority to meet responsibilities and perform duties described herein within the limits established in Corporate Operating Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, GMPs, and as established by COO.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise packaging personnel as established by Packaging Supervisor
- Aid in training personnel (GMPs, SOPs, and general operations)
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and escalation of issues to maintenance and management
- Know how to operate all key machinery, presses, labelers, staplers, counters, balances, etc.
- Set up for and work with handicapped personnel, e.g., Nishna Productions, and other outside personnel
- Provide training to packaging associates and ensure they are proper trained for work assigned
- Promote a safe work environment at all times and remediation of any unsafe conditions
- Make recommendations and take ownership of continuous improvement projects in packaging
- Fill-in for the Packaging Supervisor in their absence
- Support organizational KPI’s and goals on a daily basis
- Promote a pro-active culture that embraces right the first time approach to work environment
- Focus on quality and safety as the primary goals in all aspects of the job
- Assist in the development of robust CAPA’s to resolve issues experience in packaging
- Support the usage of computer systems that promote more effective records & data entry
DUTIES AND TASKS
- Check cleanliness of equipment and rooms and release for use
- Secondary checks on presses and labeling
- Check sheets that have been issued for correct lot number, expiration date, and specifications
- Tablet Room Supervision: Check scales, tablet weights, hardness, tooling, and all other process production specifications
- Production secondary checks of counting equipment
- Participate in root cause analysis and identification of corrective action and preventative actions
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE
- Number of non-conformance occurrences in packaging of tablets
- Number of non-conformances occurrences in labeling (improper wording; out of stock)

REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree
EXPERIENCE
Required: On the job training and at least 12 months in manufacturing
Preferred: Two years of packaging experience in pharmaceuticals operations
