Job summary

J.S. McCarthy Packaging + Print in Maine is seeking a Packaging Structural Designer to turn customer concepts into production-ready packaging using ArtiosCAD.

You will collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Production to ensure designs meet customer needs and our equipment capabilities. Ideal candidates have strong CAD skills, knowledge of folding carton construction, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects across departments.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in ArtiosCAD is required; Illustrator, Pandora, Kodak Workshop helpful.
• Experience with packaging CAD or structural packaging design.
• Understanding of folding carton construction, dielines, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Good communication across departments and with clients.
• Prepress Mac Operator skills are a plus.
• Degree in Structural Design, Package Eng., CAD/Drafting Tech., Industrial Design or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in packaging/printing/manufacturing environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify structural packaging designs using ArtiosCAD.
• Develop CAD layouts, dielines, prototypes, and production-ready files with customers and production.
• Troubleshoot structural design and production concerns with stakeholders.
• Collaborate across departments to move projects from concept to production.
• Identify opportunities to improve packaging design, efficiency, and material utilization.
• Follow SOPs and suggest continuous improvement opportunities.
